Vernon Wells blasted a homerun and had 4 RBI at Minute Maid Field as the Dominican Republicans beat the Chicago Rastafarians 9 to 8. Wells had a big day at the plate. He doubled in the 3rd inning, clubbed a three-run home run (his 1st of the season) in the 4th inning and lashed a single in the 9th inning. Chicago had a chance in the 9th but they came up short. Eric Milton(1-1) allowed 5 runs in 6 and 1/3 innings, and picked up the victory. Milton got relief help from Kiko Calero who gained credit for his 1st save. Tomo Ohka(1-1) was the loser. He was touched for 10 hits and 3 walks in 3 and 1/3 innings. 'We won because we did the little things right.' Ralph Madara said after the game. 'This is why we practice things over and over and over, so when we get in close games we don't make mistakes.'
